Students with big ideas are being invited to take part in this year's Entrepreneurs' Boot Camp, which the University of Leeds Careers Centre is involved in organising.
The residential course offers budding business men and women the chance to learn more about the practical aspects of starting up; such as finance, business planning and sales. There is also an opportunity to seek one-to-one advice from professional advisors and firsthand tips from successful entrepreneurs.
The event will be held in Beverley between the 29th June and 2nd July, and thanks to funding from Yorkshire Forward, participants pay just £95 for the workshops, food, accommodation and transport.
One of many success stories to come out of previous camps is the award-winning Web design agency Creode. Winner of the University of Leeds' annual Business Plan Competition in 2009, the agency has some very high profile clients including the makers of CBeebies programme 'Big and Small'.
Creode founders Luke Harrison and James Hannaford attended the 2008 camp and Luke says it was a great experience for them: "The Boot Camp is an opportunity to fine tune your rough ideas alongside other creative people, as well as get down-to-earth practical advice on aspects of the business world that aren't usually taught in the University curriculum. For many of the participants the Boot Camp is also the first real world opportunity for networking with other businessmen and women - which is great for building business relationships and picking up potential contracts. We are still in touch with a few people we met at the event last year so the contacts do stick."
