Within the broad area of Perception - Action - Cognition, we have a special interest in examining how humans use vision to support skilled interactions with the world.

We are interested in the perceptual information used to controlled skilled motor actions, for example reaching to pick up objects in the world or high speed locomotion such as cycling or driving a car.

Self motion through the world has been fundamental for ensuring human survival, supporting the successful capture of food and avoidance of predators. Locomotion is predominantly controlled by vision, and in modern times we use the same underlying mechanisms to move at speeds much greater than those we evolved to control. The fact that we can cycle or drive down roads at speed highlights both the power of the human visual system, and also its adaptability.

These webpages provide details of our current research interests and activities as well as a full list of published papers & conference abstracts, and details of our laboratory facilities.
