I moved to Leeds from London in January 2009, where I had been working for a number of years in a variety of contexts – including as a performer, writer, community arts practitioner and housing officer.  Prior to this I graduated from Exeter University with a BA in Drama 2005 and completed my training at the Central School of Speech and Drama with an MA in Acting for Screen.

My PhD research centres on the Council Estate and its representation in a variety of contemporary performance contexts. Drawing upon Lefebvre’s model of ‘social space’, I am examining the ways in which the various facets of spatial experience function in performance. In particular I am interested in the ways in which the lived experience of the ‘place’ of a ‘Council Estate’ is translated to the stage, and the ways in which these performances impact upon the living of such places.  Other research interests include : actor training - particularly voice training (acting in animation, acting through voice), intercultural performance and drag and gender performativity.
