Widening Access & Participation

Strategy Map has clear aims under its commitment to:-
'Increasing Participation for those who can benefit'
This means that:
- We make our education accessible to those who can benefit – regardless of their background.
- We have a comprehensive and proactive programme of activity to increase opportunities. This ranges from raising aspirations with children and adults in areas of low educational participation, through to ensuring that these students are supported once they are at the University.
- We have a fair, clear and transparent admissions policy.
- We recruit high quality students from all areas including under-represented and non-traditional students.
- We actively engage in raising the aspirations of school children in our city and region for entry into higher education, particularly at Leeds.
- The University is accessible to all those organisations that can benefit from our expertise, irrespective of their size and their level of knowledge of what we can offer http://tldynamic.leeds.ac.uk/leedsyorkshire/strategy/details.asp?ID=24
In PCI we are committed to widening access and participation through a range of strategies including staff led workshops delivered to schools and groups such as adult learners, participation by staff in careers events and university application advice in schools, school and community projects as part of the taught undergraduate degrees, and professional development work with teachers.
