The School of Performance & Cultural Industries
The School of Performance and Cultural Industries offers a unique combination of inter-related disciplines within a research-intensive university environment.  Our high quality research-led teaching engages students at the cutting edge of knowledge as it is developed.

The School is concerned not only with performance itself but also with the role that performance plays in the wider cultural and creative life of society.  Performance harnesses the emotions, engages the intellect and develops creativity, whether it is found in the theatre, on the street, in the mass media or in the local community.  In contemporary society, we are all performers, critics, consumers and audiences.

Our graduates are leaders and catalysts in their chosen fields, and our research has demonstrable impact on the professional worlds of performance, policy-making, and the cultural and creative industries.  The School has strong relationships with a wide range of high profile regional, national and international cultural organisations.  We actively promote enterprise as part of the learning experience.

National Student Survey 2011
The National Student Survey 2011 results have been published, showing what our final-year undergraduate students said about our degree courses.

The results tell us that our students find our courses interesting and intellectually stimulating, and they appreciate our enthusiasm for what we teach. As a result of studying with us, students feel that their communication skills have improved and they are confident about tackling unfamiliar problems.

These 2011 students have now graduated and they are going out into a range of exciting jobs and postgraduate courses, equipped with the skills, enthusiasm and confidence that they developed in our School. We look forward to seeing them succeed in their chosen careers!

The University of Leeds was recently shortlisted for The Sunday Times University of the Year 2011, reflecting the excellent student experience that we offer.
