Introduction

Freedom of Information Act and its requirements

The University follows the model publication scheme approved by the UK's Information Commissioner for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act. The current version of that model publication scheme was introduced from 1 January 2009.

If you are looking for information and services you can expect the University to regularly or routinely provide you will probably find it simpler to search or explore the rest of our website for the information you require before submitting a request under the Freedom of Information Act. We have published a guide to the information the University makes available to the public. This guide follows the format prescribed by the Office of the Information Commissioner under the agreed Definition Document for Universities. The Guide gives further information on the classes of information which the Information Commissioner has identified and the method by which information published under the scheme is made available by the University.

We are currently publishing this guide as a downloadable pdf file as the University website is being reviewed and developed to make it easier to find information. The buttons on the left hand side of this page, which follow the classes of information the Information Commissioner has identified, will in due course provide links to listings within these catagoristaions.

Information published on the University website is free to access in that format subject to any copyright restrictions as noted on our legal issues and disclaimers page.

Generally the provision of printed copies of any web pages or the original hard copy version of a publication will incur charges to cover the cost of duplication, administration and postage where the number of pages exceeds 14. Any charges, payable in advance, will normally be calculated on a basis of £4+postage for the first 15 pages plus an additional 25p for each additional page requested.
