Jan Wilkinson, above, has been appointed by a Senate appointment committee
to the post of University Librarian and Keeper of the Brotherton Collection.
A former deputy head of the LSE’s British Library of Political and Economic
Science, she joined the University in 1998 as director of strategic development
and became director of library sevices in March. In her new role as Librarian,
she succeeds Lynne Brindley, who was also Pro-Vice Chancellor and is to be the
British Library’s new chief executive.

Leeds University Business School (LUBS) has appointed Professor Andrew Lock,
above, as its next Dean in succession to Lord Woolmer of Leeds, who retires
on September 1.
Professor Lock has been Dean of Management and Business at Manchester Metropolitan
University for the last 12 years. He took his first degree – in French – at
the University of Leeds, before obtaining a Masters and PhD from London Business
School and joining the faculty of Kingston University. At Manchester Metropolitan,
he is also a Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
