An understanding of Science and Mathematics is essential to living in today's world but the excitement of these subjects is often under appreciated by people of all ages.

The Rothschild Community of Excellence aims to encourage interest and attainment in these subjects in schools by improving teaching standards and providing a wide range resources to inspire pupils.

The Programme has three main aspects:

	Providing support and sponsorship for schools seeking specialist status in Science, Technology and Mathematics and Computing
	Providing a varied enhancement programme of activities to support and enhance the curriculum
	An innovative postgraduate programme combining teacher training (PGCE in secondary Mathematics or Science) and research (MSc by research in a Mathematics or Physical Science subject)

The Rothschild Community of Excellence is an innovative partnership between N M Rothschild & Sons, the Department for Skills and Education and the University of Leeds. The Programme has attracted support and interest from many areas of business and education and been welcomed by the Government as a "model of excellence".
