I want to use a laser - what do I need to do?

What is the type of laser you are using?

• If it is a Class 1 or Class 2 laser such as a laser pointer or a simple item of equipment such as a measurement device or an instrument containing an 'embedded laser' (where it's impossible to get at a live laser beam), or if it is a low power laser (Class 1 or Class 2) then there is no need to register as a laser worker. Just read the document Working with Class 1 / 1M and Class 2 / 2M Laser Products, which contains basic safety information and general guidance.
