About the Office

A dedicated team of specialist staff is responsible for all administrative matters handled centrally which relate to postgraduate research students. We are located in the Student Services Centre which is housed in the Marjorie and Arnold Ziff Buildling.

Firstly, we provide general advice and information to support our research students from the point of initial enquiry, admission and registration, through to review of progress, the submission and examination of theses, the award of degrees and beyond.

Secondly, we provide administrative support for the University’s Graduate Board and its Groups and work closely with Faculty Graduate Schools.Together we work continually to assure the high quality of our research degree programmes and enhance the research student experience at Leeds. We develop and monitor policies and procedures in liaison with these Groups and Research Student Representatives, and act as a resource for advice and guidance to all research students and a range of staff, including but not limited to Heads of Schools, Postgraduate Research Tutors and Supervisors.

Thirdly, we administer a suite of funding packages in excess of £10 million which is available to UK/EU and International students wishing to undertake taught and research postgraduate programmes at Leeds. We deal with applications for University of Leeds Postgraduate Scholarships and Studentships and offer advice on the sources and types of funding available as well as guidance on the application processes.
