Research Degrees & Scholarships Office
For Staff

Introduction
This section aims to provide a brief introduction to the University’s arrangements relating to the progress and monitoring of research degree candidatures.

The University places great importance on helping students to complete their research degree programme within the standard period of study permitted for the programme upon which they are registered. See Attendance Monitoring Guidance for policy, guidance and examples of good practice on attendance monitoring and absence reporting for all students.

In order to support students, there are a number of mechanisms through which their training and development needs are identified, and their progress is monitored and evaluated.

In order to support academic staff, the Staff Departmental Development Unit (SDDU) runs workshops for both new and experienced supervisors.
