The information provided in this section is intended to be useful to students who are preparing to submit the thesis for examination.

One of the first stages in the process of thesis submission and examination is the completion of the appropriate Examination Entry Form. This form should be completed and returned to the Research Degrees and Scholarships Office at least three months prior to the submission of the thesis.

In the rest of this section, you can find guidance on matters such as how to present the thesis for submission, as well as information on the purpose of the oral examination, the possible recommended outcomes, and how you can get your degree and graduate from the University.

Please note that a new section, currently under development, is intended to give guidance on the arrangements and procedures for practice-led candidatures in the following Schools: Music; Design; Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, and Performance and Cultural Industries. Candidates in these disciplines may be granted permission by the Graduate Board’s Examinations Group to present for examination an alternative form of thesis. Further information will be published on the website in due course.
