Dance Polyhedron

Jim Schofield with polyhedron

Laban's system for describing motion of dancers in space is based on a system of qualitative directions in 3D space with respect to the dancer's body. The Spatiality in Design Cluster hosted a meeting which included a presentation by Jim Schofield of Bedford Interactive in which he explained the possibility of using an alternative polyhedron to those found in Laban.

For more on this area: Jeffery Scott Longstaff has some papers and a PhD thesis which provide useful material on Laban's system and more generally on the perception of space through movement and on notation.
