Rupert Lloyd

I spent a year studying abroad at Griffith University on the Gold Coast of Australia. I’ve developed academically and personally, and my confidence levels grew immensely whilst on my year abroad. I lived by one simple rule: say yes to every opportunity that comes along. As clichéd as that sounds, it enhanced my experience greatly. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone by meeting new people and taking the initiative to go places and make the most of the opportunity. One of my proudest moments was organising a trip to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world.

Ignore anything that says you shouldn’t do it! You can overcome most obstacles, like money and making friends. I learnt to budget and found that lots of people were in the same boat. Don’t pass an opportunity like this to do something incredible. I would have kicked myself if I hadn’t done a study abroad year.
