Danielle undertook a three month secondment to JRI Orthopaedics Ltd.
She said: "I strongly believe this secondment, experience and learning contributed heavily to my recent employment as a Technology Innovation Manager on the new Medical Technologies HEFCE Catalyst programme, in the University of Leeds Medical Technologies Innovation team, which I am currently working part time on alongside my research fellow role.
"The secondment allowed me to gain first hand learning of how a small to medium enterprise (SME) operates, through their excellent induction programme as well as being trained as an internal auditor and attendance as an exhibitor at the European Orthopaedic Research Society Conference.
"I gained knowledge of how industry can utilise grants for early stage research, in particular around Innovate UK projects and importantly their project management. I also gained extensive knowledge on medical device, advanced therapeutic medicinal product (ATMP) and pharmaceutical regulation, directly from the regulatory team at JRI Orthopaedics, through my own research and also by attending the European Infrastructure for Translational Medicine (EATRIS) ATMP regulatory and development course."
