Althea Mok

Before I came to the UK I was a bit nervous because I was not familiar with the culture, but the support I received from the University helped me feel comfortable and get used to the environment quickly. The Welcome Team and International Student Ambassadors were there to answer any questions I had on arrival and I visited the International Student Office and my personal tutor regularly for ongoing support.

There are so many different societies
you can join, which are a great way of making new friends. I became the Events Director for the Hong Kong society and helped organise a range of activities, from social nights in Leeds to a three-day orientation camp back in Hong Kong for new students. In my first year I became a Student Ambassador. Through this role I have developed a strong sense of belonging towards the University and I am definitely having a great time here.
