James Nicholson

After my first year, I set up the Leeds Medical Student Community First Responders, a volunteering initiative that trains medical students to respond to urgent emergencies in their local area. We work with Yorkshire Ambulance Service to train volunteers, who then go on call in pairs, responding to nearby emergencies using a GPS-enabled smartphone. Volunteering as a CFR gives students the chance to support the care of acutely ill patients in their local community.
