I can’t stress enough the significance of having a year in industry to back up your degree. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to push themselves and stand out. I worked as a Data Analyst for Converse UK and what really intrigued me about the position was that it wasn’t the typical mathematician’s approach to a placement. I had the chance to really hone my analytical skills in an industry that I’m very passionate about outside of academia, the fashion industry.

The University is with you every step of the way during the application process. They provide you with mock interviews and career advice, so the support is definitely there – my tutor even visited me during my placement. I’ve realised that the skills I have could be applied to a lot of fields and it’s opened up more opportunities to me than I thought I had.
