Student at a laptop

Excellence in ITWe provide a first-class, innovative and flexible learning and teaching environment

Email, file storage and a fast internet connection are the least you can expect from IT facilities at the University of Leeds - our first class facilities are some of the most extensive of any UK University.

Computers when and where you need them

Our IT facilities are centred on students, so we try to make sure you have a computer when and where you need it.

When you register with us you will get a username that gives you free use of any of our 1,740 networked PCs on campus. All computer clusters are open 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and many are open in the evening and at weekends. Departments also have their own computers which you can use for private study, so you won't need to worry about bringing your own.

Using your own computer

If you would rather use your own laptop we have a free, high speed Wi-Fi network that covers most of campus. All the main halls of residence have free, fast internet access, and we even provide free TV over the network in the halls. With 25 free channels and 19 more available on subscription you can keep up with your favourite programmes on your computer.

Further afield, you can still get access to your resources with the Desktop Anywhere service, helping you log in to your University desktop and software securely, from anywhere in the world.

Computer helpdesk

Information Systems Services (ISS) is our central IT provider and we are consistently ranked in the top three universities for IT support in the National Student Survey. The ISS helpdesk is open seven days a week to answer your queries.
