Q. Do I have to collect a separate card for Sports Membership?
A. No, you do not need a separate card as it is an integral part of your Student Card.
Q. How long does the membership run for?
A1. All memberships will expire on 31st
July 2010.
Q. I'm not sure whether to get the Standard or Plus Membership. Can you give me further advice?
A1. If you are a regular user of the Fitness Suite, Strength & Conditioning Room, Pilates Classes or Squash Courts, you should consider buying a "Plus" Membership.
A2. If you want to mainly attend Aerobic
Classes, Club Sessions, play Intra Mural Sport or use
the Sports Halls, then you should consider the Standard
Membership.
Q. Can I upgrade my membership from a Standard to a Plus Membership?
A. Yes, you can upgrade your membership by calling in at the Sport & Physical Activity Office in the Sports Centre at any time throughout the year during normal office hours. You cannot downgrade your membership.
Q. If I do not join on-line
where do I go?
A. You can join at one of the Sport & Physical
Activity receptions (Sports Centre, Cromer Terrace Fitness
Studio, Gryphon Sports Centre or Weetwood Playing Fields)
Q. Can I just pay and play each time I use a facility?
A. Yes you can, but an activity fee will usually be £4 per session. If you attend more than 11 times, you would have paid for a Standard Membership! Great value for money! Click here for fees page.
Q. Can I cancel my sports membership?
A.Our Terms and Conditions state that you cannot; however
if someone decided to leave the University after two
weeks, then a refund would be given. Members are invited
to write down the reason for cancellation and this
should be submitted to sport@leeds.ac.uk

Q. My membership card is not working. What should I do?
A. Your membership may not have been activated. If you call into the Sport & Physical Activity Office they will
try to resolve the problem for you.
Q When the new swimming pool and fitness complex facilities open will I be
able to use them with my SUC?
A. Your SUC membership will not gain you access to the new swimming pool and
fitness complex. A new membership scheme will be in operation - further details
available late 2009.

A. Most classes run on a "first come, first served, turn up on the day" basis. You must collect a ticket at the venue Reception when you arrive for the class, to ensure that only the correct number of participants are allowed entry.
Q. I want to learn how to climb or play squash or play badminton. Do you run courses for those sports?
A. We do run learning to climb, squash and badminton courses. We also run courses in other activities. Please look at our Active Lifestyle Courses.
You can also look in the Electives handbook for "LEED" modules that will also allow you to do this.
Q. When do the Sports Facilities open?
A. There is a full list of opening times for all venues on our website under "General Information". We are open all the year round except Bank Holidays and University Closed days.
Q.: Have you got a swimming pool?
A. At the moment we do not have a swimming pool. A list of local pools can be found on the
reception notice board. Please check the new website for up-to-date information
regarding the new swimming pool and fitness complex.
Q. Where are Cromer Terrace,
Gryphon Sports Centre and Weetwood Playing Fields?
A. Cromer Terrace is located on campus close to the Students Union building.
Gryphon Sports Centreis located next to the Business School on Woodsley Road.
Weetwood Playing Fields are located road 3 miles north of the main University
campus,
between
Oxley
and
Bodington
halls.

Q. Do I need an induction for the Fitness Room,
Strength and Conditioning Room and the Climbing
Wall?
A. Yes you do! These can be booked at any of the facility receptions.
