When do I need to enter provisional marks?
Since January 2009 it has been obligatory for Schools to provide all their undergraduate students with their provisional semester one marks and academic advice by the end of teaching week four in semester 2. This is to give students sufficient time to make changes to their semester 2 module choices. These provisional marks should be entered into SWADMRK and displayed to the students on Student Services via the Provisional Marks webpage. To display the provisional marks enter them into the grade column in SWADMRK and click on the Display Provisional Marks button; or tick the check-box in SWADMKU. You will need to inform the students when the provisional marks for their module(s) are available to view on Student Services. For further help go to http://iss.leeds.ac.uk/info/231/training where you can view the training document B220 Departmental Exams (Banner 7).
Do I need to enter and display provisional mid term marks for modules taught over semester 1 and 2?
This is left to the discretion of each individual School. If it is possible to provide the students with a provisional mark after semester 1 assessments then please enter these marks into SWADMRK and display them on the Provisional Marks webpage on Student Services by the end of teaching week four in semester 2. You will need to inform the students when the provisional marks for their module(s) are available to view on Student Services.
Do I need to enter and display provisional semester 2 marks?
No, not for undergraduate students. Enter the marks into SWADMRK but do not click on the Display as Provisional Marks button; if uploading the marks using SWADMKU do not tick the check box. Once the marks have been finalised and entered/uploaded into SWADMRK click on the Release Button this will release the marks as final to Taught Student Administration and will not display the marks on the Provisional Marks webpage on Student Services. The final marks will be displayed on the Results and Resit Application webpage available to students in July.
If you are a member of staff for postgraduate students then you may choose to display provisional semester 2 module marks for students who will not be able to view their final marks until November. You will need to inform the students when the provisional marks for their module(s) are available to view on Student Services
Where can students view their Provisional Marks online?
They can view them by logging onto the Portal, clicking on the 'Student Services & Admin tab' and following the link through to Student Services. Once in Student Services they need to click on the tab named 'Examinations' and choose Provisional Marks from the menu.
Who will inform the students that their provisional marks are available to view on the Provisional Marks webpage?
It is the responsibility of the individual Teaching School to inform the students on the module when their provisional marks are ready to view.
What can I do if I click the Display as Provisional button by mistake before the marks are ready to be displayed to the students?
If you have not yet released the marks to Taught Student Administration the only way to remove the marks from the Provisional Marks webpage is to delete the marks from the grade column in SWADMRK and then click on the Display as Provisional Marks button. This will display the marks as blank on the webpage.
When will the Provisional Marks webpage be available for students to access on Student Services?
The Provisional Marks webpage will be available to students all year. There are no plans to turn the page off. However once the final marks have been entered into SWADMRK and released to Taught Student Administration and the signed mark sheets have been received the marks will be rolled into academic history. At this stage the provisional marks will be removed from the Prov. Display Column in SWADMRK and from the Provisional Marks webpage.
Where can students view their final marks?
Undergraduates & Postgraduates can view their final marks on the Results and Resit Application webpage on Student Services in July (see Timeline of Events for dates).
Undergraduates who have taken August Resits can view these marks in mid-September (see Timeline of Events for dates).
