Registration overview
Every student at the University of Leeds is required to register at the start of each academic year. Registration is the formal process of becoming a student of the University. It enables you to attend lectures and seminars, receive tuition, sit examinations, register with the Library and other services and become a member of Leeds University Union. It is primarily a financial process of paying fees as well as ensuring that the University holds accurate and up-to-date information for you. Module enrolment is a separate process from Registration; it involves choosing and confirming the modules you wish to take as part of your programme of study.
Registration at the University is an online process for all taught students. It involves using web pages to:
- check (and amend if necessary) the personal details we hold for you
- confirm your programme of study
- join Sport and Physical Activity and pay the membership fee (if required)
- pay your tuition fees and any previous debts (various options are available)
- confirm your agreement to abide by the rules, regulations, procedures and codes governing your studies
- print your registration certificate
On completion of the registration process, your student status will be updated on the University Student Record System. This in turn will enable you to access University facilities such as computing, library and Sport and Physical Activity (if paid for) once you have collected your Student ID card. In order to fully complete registration with the University you must obtain a Student ID card and visual checks will be undertaken. New students must collect their Student ID Card in order for their attendance to be confirmed to the Student Loan Company (where applicable). Your loan will then be paid into your bank account within 3-4 working days after attendance has been confirmed.
