Accommodation

Adapting to life in a new country can be both exciting and challenging. Finding somewhere to live where you feel comfortable, will help you settle in quickly.

Leeds has plenty of accommodation for students, representing good value for money and reflecting the fact that Leeds has a lower cost of living than London and much of the south of England.

We guarantee you a place in our accommodation for the year if you apply by the stated deadlines and you are:

  • a first year undergraduate
  • an international undergraduate (i.e. you pay fees at the international rate). You are guaranteed a place in our accommodation until you finish your course, provided you apply by the stated deadlines (usually March).
  • an undergraduate exchange student
  • an international postgraduate student (i.e. you pay fees at the international rate) and you are new to Leeds

University Accommodation

For more information about the types of halls and flats owned by the university, deadlines and how to apply, please visit the accommodation office website

Private Accommodation

Some students opt to live in private sector housing, this offers you flexibility on location and room numbers. This choice is useful with families who can't find places in the university family homes. Within the city of Leeds is a registered charity called Unipol Student Housing, which serve all the students of Leeds ensuring houses which are advertised for rent by them, adhere to a basic level of safety.

Temporary Accommodation

Contact the Accommodation Office in advance to check whether the University has any temporary accommodation on your date of arrival. If there is no University accommodation available, book yourself a place in local hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation before you leave home. If you are bringing family with you, book hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation in advance. There is no temporary University accommodation suitable for families.

Local hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation details are available here or by contacting  the Leeds Tourist Information Office (Gateway Yorkshire), Tel: +44 (0) 113 242 5242, Fax: +44 (0) 113 246 8246. Prices range from £35 to £125 per person, per night.
