Operational Improvement Forum

The Operational Improvement Forum exists to bring together colleagues from different areas of the Student Services Centre and faculties across the campus, to work together on reviewing and suggesting changes to operational processes both within the Student Services Centre and more widely across the University.

The forum uses process mapping to aid discussion around the changing and simplification of processes. Maps which are under review can be found on the Sandpit Website. Maps which have been finalised and published can be found on the live website.

The forum meets on a regular basis to assist colleagues in changing and simplifying processes – the initial focus will be on solving challenges posed by the implementation of new software or methods of working within the University. Longer term all areas of work will be under review in order to assist the Student Services Centre in achieving its vision to ‘provide the highest quality professional service to meet customers' expectations’.

A process map on how the Operational Improvement Forum works can be found on the sandpit website. A process map on how to use process maps can be found on line with links through to documentation explaining the process mapping conventions.

Once a process has been reviewed the recommended changes will be reported to the Student Services Senior Management Team for consideration. Process changes which are carried forward by the Senior Management Team will be implemented on a case by case basis. It is expected that minor changes requiring minimum effort or disruption will be made within Student Services where possible. Process changes requiring significant project management will be assigned to the relevant individuals within the Student Services Centre or University to ensure a successful transition and implementation.
