Where an institution is marked as ‘high demand’ this means the number of applications received by the Study Abroad Office often outweighs the number of places available. It is not advisable to apply for three ‘high demand’ institutions so you should consider your choices carefully

University
of California
The
University of California's eight campuses (Berkeley, Davis,
Irvine, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara and
Santa Cruz) offer a full range of Arts, Social Science and
Physical Science, but the focus differs across the campuses.
Los Angeles is the largest campus with 35,000 students and
Riverside the smallest with only 9,000. California is a popular
choice destination for Fine Art but is popular across the
university. Competition for places is extremely high and interested
students should therefore express California as their first
choice and have at least a 65 average to be able to qualify.
Students are initially accepted for the University of California, a second application process determines which campus students study at. This process is managed by the University of California and the University of Leeds has no input in campus allocation.

Pennsylvania
State University
Penn
State University is Leeds' largest exchange partner, and as
such we have about 20-25 places available every year. The
fact that it is such a large institution (about 35,000 students)
means there are plenty of different courses on offer and this
exchange is therefore open to all subject areas.
Leeds
students are based at the main campus called University Park,
situated in the north eastern part of Pennsylvania State next
to the town of State College, which is fairly small and has
built up due to the presence of the University. Although effectively
in the middle of nowhere, campus life offers students everything
they would hope for, including the nation's forth largest
stadium (103,000 capacity), and major cities such as Pittsburgh,
Philadelphia, Washington DC, New York & Toronto are all
between 3 and 6 hour's drive from campus.
