Industrial Services

CTT’s interdisciplinary skills provide innovation and technical support that helps to underpin developments in the national and international industrial textile community including member companies of the Faraday Technitex.

Spin-Out Companies

The majority of our spin-out companies have attracted significant external investment from the private sector. Together with product development activities, this has enabled outcomes from our research to reach the commercial arena nationally and internationally.

In addition, industrial services are provided through our well-equipped testing laboratories. The GeoTrac-Rapide laboratory provides services to the geosynthetics, composites and industrial fabrics industry while the  Performance Clothing Laboratory is instrumental in the development of outdoor protective equipment, sportswear, ropes and helmets.

Knowledge Transfer

Knowledge acquisition and advanced skills training are fundamental to our service provision, which includes:

The Clothworkers Innovation Fund (CIF) provides significant funding for innovation and technical development of research outcomes in CTT. Within CIF a grants scheme has been created for staff to conduct feasibility studies on blue sky concepts that could address industrial or commercial needs.

Consultancy

Technical problem solving? Patent analysis? Expert witness support? Technology reviews? Product development assistance? These and similar functions are provided on a regular basis through our consultancy services. All work is subject to strict confidentiality agreements.

Bringing together representatives from industry

Frequently, New Product Development requires the building of effective partnerships to strengthen access to expertise and resources. Our strong contacts and relationships with companies across the technical textiles sector nationally and internationally prove to be invaluable in many projects.
