Room charges

Room usage
Room usage charges apply specifically to externals wishing to book rooms or to University conferences. For further information, please see the guide to booking University central teaching space for non-teaching activities.

Portering charges
Specific University buildings are open as standard during the evening and at weekends and will not attract a charge for internal University activities.
Where a user wishes to use a room in a building that is not open as standard this may be possible subject to the availability of porters to work overtime to cover the activity - charges may apply. Please contact the timetabling and room bookings team for further advice.

Charges for portering overtime from August 1st 2011 to July 31st 2012 are as follows:

Mon-Sat

£17.59 per hour

Sun

£21.02 per hour

For evening activities in rooms not open as standard charges may apply from the 1800 during term time (or building closing time in vacations) to the end time of the activity plus 30 mins lock up time. Please note: charges apply from the time the building closes, which may be earlier than the booking start time.

For bookings requiring a special room setup, porters may be available to help depending on workloads and other duties. Portering assistance requiring a significant amount of time, particularly if the request is at short notice, may attract a setup fee of up to £100.

The above charges are for internal customers only. All external events (with the exception of the Student Union and the Intitute of Cervantes) are dealt with by the conference and events team.
