Course Details

The course is an introduction to bike maintenance, designed for anyone who needs to know how to fix their ride after the bike shop has closed. The full course covers:

  • Naming and understanding the parts of a bike
  • "M Check" safety inspection
  • Fixing a roadside puncture
  • Brakes - adjustment and fitting new pads
  • Gears - indexing and setting limit screws

The Velocampus staff running the course have a wealth of knowledge of both maintenance and cycling in general including commuting, cycle touring the length of New Zealand and mountain biking in the Alps, so feel free to test their knowledge. Due to the practical nature of the course don't wear your Sunday best. Aprons and disposable gloves are provided. Questions are encouraged.

The course is designed to be run in small numbers so we can keep good staff to student numbers, never exceeding a 1:4 ratio. Groups of 4 or more can book alternative dates to suit, just contact transport@leeds.ac.uk or EXT 37252.

Booking Details Bookings can be taken in person at the bike hub or by emailing transport@leeds.ac.uk
