Hire a Bike

Good quality bikes from Velocampus Leeds are available to hire for one week up to 12 months over an academic year. Hirers must usually be at University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University or Leeds Trinity*.

A hire agreement needs to be signed and the hire fee and deposit paid by cash or cheque on receipt of the hire bike. Hirers need to look after the bike, ensuring it is maintained in good condition.

 

*Long term hire: up to 12 months over an academic year, fee £35/semester, £50/more than semester up to a year, both with £100 deposit. Available to students, and staff not eligible for cycle to work scheme

*Short term hire: from 1 week up to 1 month, £20 for first week, £5/week thereafter, £50 deposit. Available to staff, students and visitors.

When and Where Bikes are Available

University of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University from the Velocampus bike hub on University of Leeds campus, usual opening hours 12-4 Tuesday-Thursday, extended opening during freshers weeks and the first week of term 1.

Documents Required

Please bring your student/staff ID or proof that you have registered with the University. In addition, we will require a valid email address and mobile phone number.

The Bikes

Bikes are either Giant Expression DX or Ridgeback Speed hybrid bikes, equipped for city cycling, with 21 Shimano gears, D-lock, lights, puncture resistant tyres and luggage rack.

15", 17", 19", 21", 23" frames. See the size guide to work out which bike would be best for you.

Security

SOLD secure Abus D-locks are provided with the bikes. Bikes are also security coded.
