For Staff: Getting Started
How to log in
All University staff members are automatically given access to the VLE. Log in using your ISS Username and Password at: https://vlebb.leeds.ac.uk Once logged in you’ll see the Home page. There are two other tabs: Content Collection and Resources. Links to Help and Logout are at the top of the screen.

On the VLE Home page there are titled boxes: Modules, Organisations, and Announcements. There is also a module/organisation search.
Modules
Module areas are used to deliver module-related content to students. This could be anything from documentation, slides and reading lists to more interactive content such as tests, discussion boards, blogs and wiki.
Under modules you will see those you are enrolled on:

Module enrolments should be added via Banner by your School Banner administrator. Once added to Banner, enrolments come through overnight. If you are missing modules, see the enrolments faqs.
All students officially studying your module will be automatically enrolled via Banner. Enrolments for the next Academic year start coming through late Summer. Then they update automatically overnight. Students do not see your module until it is made available by you or another tutor.
Click on the name of the module to go to the module area. For help with navigation/adding materials we have the following:
- Interactive module tour Requires Flash player (may take a few seconds to load)
- Changes you need to know (following the Summer 2011 VLE upgrade).
- Ten ways to improve your module
- List of guides
Organisations
Organisations are sometimes used by Faculties/Schools to deliver content to specific groups of students. Typically this could be content for the whole Faculty/School or a Programme.
Staff enrolments are managed by Schools. If you think you are missing an enrolment, speak to a Faculty VLE contact in your School. If you want an organisation setting up, speak to your Faculty VLE contact.
Adding content to organisations works in the same way as modules.
Announcements
Recent/permanent announcements from your modules/organisations are summarised here.
Module/Organisation search
This tool is primarily for finding modules/organisation you are not enrolled on which have guest access enabled.
Content Collection
The VLE's Content Collection is a centralised file store for staff to store and share content.
Now when you add any content to your modules, copies of the files are added automatically to a new area in the Content Collection. Each module has its own area: a folder under Module Content > Courses. Staff who teach on the module can see and add to this folder. Organisations work in a similar way, but have their own space in a new area called Organisations.
The 'My Content' area is being phased out so you cannot add content here anymore. You can still see content which was added before the Summer 2011 VLE upgrade though.
Resources
Here you will find links to resources provided by the Library, Skills Centre etc.
