For Students: VLE Changes (Summer 2011)
It looks different
The main change is the interface. You should find the layout is similar to before the upgrade, but now it looks cleaner and the colour scheme is slightly different. Your tutors choose colours for the module menu and decide the layout of their module so these might change.
Blackboard assignments/tests
There's still a 'Submit' button for when you've finished a piece of work. The old 'Save' button has been replaced with 'Save as draft' to avoid confusion. Use 'Save as draft' when you want to come back and do more work later. (This doesn't affect Turnitin/Questionmark assessments.)
Empty menu items
You should see less empty module menu items as these are now hidden by default.
Make your own groups
If your tutor makes this feature available, you can now create group areas within modules to be used for file exchange/email/discussion. Another change is that if your tutors have set up module groups for you, you'll find them more easily as there are links under the module menu.
External links
External links are handled differently. When they open in the same window they cover the module menu. This isn't an error - you have to use the breadcrumb trail for navigation:

Blogs/Wikis
These tools may be referred to as various things e.g. diaries or booking sheets. They have this symbol next to them:
Although these haven't changed much please be aware that Internet Explorer 9 is not compatible - if you post something using this web browser the text will disappear. There's more info on our blog.
Hide the module menu
You can hide the module menu by clicking the < icon:
This will affect all of your modules, so remember to get the menu back you need to click the > icon:
