Welcome

As well as offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and programmes in aspects of Film Studies, the Centre for World Cinemas sponsors film shows, seminar series, conferences and research projects in World Cinemas.

The first of its kind in the country, the centre takes a positive, inclusive and democratic approach to film studies. Rather than ratifying the usual division between the centre (Hollywood) and the periphery (the rest of the world), it defines world cinema as a polycentric phenomenon with (often overlapping) peaks of creation in different places and periods.

As well as our MA in World Cinemas, we can provide supervision for an MA by Research or PhD  projects on a wide range World Cinemas related topics.

For more information on what we do, please contact the Centre's Director, Professor Lúcia Nagib at l.nagib@leeds.ac.uk.
