Article on the Leeds translation project of German Prisoner of War accounts from WWI.
The Yorkshire Post today reported on the 'Kriegsgefangen in Skipton' project. The project is primarily the translation from German to English of the account of the German Prisoners of War who stayed in a POW camp in Skipton during World War I. It involves several German@Leeds staff: Anne Buckley, Caroline Summers and Hilary Potter. Students have contributed to the project in various ways, primarily through translating parts of the diary. It allowed them to apply and demonstrate the skills they learnt in translation modules.
