The University will host a free brunch and lecture for North American alumni from Toronto, and beyond.

Leeds alumni in Toronto are invited to the University’s first official event in North America since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The brunch and talk is a chance for former students and stakeholders to catch up, and learn about the groundbreaking research being done on climate change and food production at the University of Leeds.

Director of the Global Food and Environment Institute, Professor Steve Banwart, will present his lecture titled ‘Can we eat our way out of climate change?’

Sustainable food production is an urgent global challenge, and Professor Banwart will discuss how communities and agribusinesses around the world can tackle the urgent challenges that connect climate change and food supply in North America, and across the globe.

University of Leeds Vice-Chancellor Simone Buitendijk said: “It is wonderful that we can finally connect with our valued and distinguished North American alumni network in person, after several years of being apart.

“As well as an opportunity to come together after so long, Professor Steve Banwart, will be addressing the event. Steve is a leader in his field, and I'm sure his talk will be insightful and thought-provoking.”

The event is free to Leeds alumni and will be hosted at The University of Toronto on Sunday 30 October. Booking is essential as there are limited spaces. Register to attend the event.
