Summary: Thesis: King and Emperor: the development of the ideology of sacred kingship in England and Ottonian Germany from the ninth to eleventh centuries

Research:

I study the development of early medieval kingship both in England and in Germany from the eighth to eleventh centuries. I do not look at ideological representation in isolation, but relate it to political and ethnic dynamics both within and between states.

About me:

I am a Finnish part-time PhD student. My academic interests are quite versatile as (besides history obviously) I enjoy reading theology, philosophy and sociology. I like to spend my spare time with friends and other people.

Supervisors:

Professor Catherine E. Karkov (School of Fine Art, History of Art & Cultural Studies) and Professor Ian N. Wood (School of History)
