Biography

Wolfgang was educated and trained at Staatliches Gymnasium Bochum, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, The Institute of Linguists London, Leeds Metropolitan University and The Open University.

Before joining the German Department at The University of Leeds in 2012, he was a Senior Lecturer in German at Leeds Metropolitan University (1988-2012 / now Leeds Beckett University), Associate Lecturer at the Open University (1997-2007), Part-Time Lecturer at Trinity & All Saints College, Horsforth (1983-87) and Part-Time Lecturer at Leeds Polytechnic (1977-88).

Wolfgang holds the Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy, UK.  He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, London, and a Member of the Association for Language Learning (ALL).

Other Professional Experience and Activities

Wolfgang has worked as a freelance Language Consultant for a number of regional businesses and organisations, and in a variety of roles: Teaching Business German, Translating & Interpreting, and working at international trade fairs in Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

He has acted as Oral Examiner for The Institute of Linguists and The Open University. He was the External Adviser and Chief External Examiner for the BA(Hons) European Business Programme at Portsmouth University.

Wolfgang has been voice-recording German GCSE and A-level listening exams for over twenty years, and his voice can also be heard on German audio guides at a number of major UK tourist attractions, including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, The National Portrait Gallery, St.Paul's Cathedral, Cadbury’s World and Chatsworth House.
