Summary: Teacher of Italian

Areas of responsibility

I am the Language Co-ordinator of the Italian modules in Languages for All (LfA). I teach Italian as a Discovery Theme module in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies where I have been a Teaching Fellow for the past nineteen years.

Professional interest

I love teaching Italian and believe that it is important to create a purposeful, familiar and safe environment in the classroom and around University to give students a positive learning experience.

I think that fostering autonomous learning plays a significant role in a student's progress and development of Long Life learning skills, and is an important attribute for their employability.

To support students’ independence and furthering their learning outside the classroom, I produced several authentic videos in Italy. I developed their content pedagogically to use as online learning material by students at beginner and more advanced levels.

I enjoy collaborating with Italian Erasmus students and promote their participation in  language classes. This enables real communication, cultural awareness and exchange. Presentations made by Erasmus students on aspects of the Italian life are filmed and made available on the VLE with transcripts. These provide an additional learning resource for our students.
