The Global Food and Environment Institute (GFEI) invites you to join our April 2023 webinar ‘FixOurFood: Regenerative Farming in Yorkshire’.

During this talk, Dr Ruth Wade, Research Fellow in Regenerative Farming Systems, University of Leeds, will highlight the findings of her research in this area.

Regenerative agriculture has become increasingly popular with interest from producers, retailers, researchers and politicians, as it could provide opportunities to produce food and simultaneously restore historically degraded land.

However, there is currently a lack of evidence-based practice and an understanding of the challenges, impacts and trade-offs of changing agricultural practices.

As part of the FixOurFood programme, the University of Leeds has been researching the impact of regenerative farming systems in Yorkshire.

The project has been focusing on four key areas:

  1. Understanding the current system
  2. Supporting regenerative farming
  3. Evidence-based practice
  4. Sharing of the information

This seminar will highlight the current attitudes, activities, and challenges associated with regenerative agriculture and outline the experiments underway at the University of Leeds Research Farm to measure the impacts of changing practices on the soil, crop, greenhouse gas emissions, yield, and profit.

There will be a welcome and introductions from the Chair, followed by a 20-minute webinar presented by Dr Ruth Wade, and 10 minutes for Q&A.
