How can we ensure the potential benefits of digital change for learning are realised? Join our seminar to hear more and share ideas.

This webinar will consider the role of the University in shaping digital engagement for learning and skills development across all ages and educational levels.

We will look at the changing environment for learning and increasing use of digital tools, considering how digital opportunities could help transform school education, lifelong learning and work based skills, but also how it could help improve engagement with university knowledge, including through participation, outreach, citizen science, scientific literacy and public understanding of research.

We will consider how the digital world is transforming both formal and informal education, and the upskilling that will be needed for both teachers and learners (in school settings and beyond). We will also explore the tensions between the potential to provide wider access to learning opportunities and risks of digital exclusion and entrenching inequalities.

Introduced by the Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor for Digital Transformation, Professor Neil Morris, the seminar will be chaired by Professor Stuart Taberner, Dean for Interdisciplinary Research. There will be a number of short presentations from across the university around particular parts of the challenge, followed by break-out discussion and a respondent panel.

This webinar is part of a series of interdisciplinary, cross-campus seminars arranged by Professor Stuart Taberner and Samantha Aspinall, and organised by Leeds Social Sciences Institute and the Astbury Centre.

This event is open to all University of Leeds staff. Joining details for the webinar will be sent to registered participants ahead of the event.
