The Global Food and Environment Institute is delighted to invite you to join our June 2021 webinar Seasonal workers across borders: farming needs, COVID-19 pandemic and immigration after Brexit.
This will be a 20 minute webinar presented by Dr Roxana Barbulescu followed by a Q&A session.
Dr Roxana Barbulescu is Associate Professor in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds in the UK. Dr Barbulescu's area of expertise focuses on migrant communities and practices of migration and mobility particularly in connection with migrants' and refugees rights, citizenship, intra-EU mobility and migration control.
She is a social scientist with an interest in policy interventions and enthusiasm for comparative research. She is the author of the research monograph Migrant Integration in a Changing Europe. Immigrants, European Citizens and Co-ethnics in Italy and Spain (University of Notre Dame Press) and co-author of the book Everyday Europe. Social Transnationalism in an Unsettled Continent (Policy Press) Roxana is the PI UKRI/ESRC funded project Feeding the Nation: Seasonal Migrant Workers and Food Security during COVID-19 Pandemic
The seminar will be chaired by Professor Fiona Smith, Professor in International Economic Law, University of Leeds. Areas of expertise: International trade under the World Trade Organization (WTO); Regional Trade Agreements; BREXIT and trade; International agricultural trade; UK agriculture regulation; EU agriculture regulation.
