LITE Fellows Niamh Mullen and Peter Matthews invite colleagues to their Fellowship Showcase that will focus on considering comprehension in lectures from a student perspective.
LITE Fellows Niamh Mullen and Peter Matthews invite colleagues to their Fellowship Showcase, In Our Students Shoes: Understanding in Lectures from our students perspective to be held Wednesday 12 May 10-11.30am.
Niamh and Peter's fellowship focuses on the concept of Academic Listening and the challenges that those that don't have English as a first language face when studying in the UK for the first time.
You can sign up for the event via the event form.
The event will begin with some short activities that will allow attendees to think about areas that might pose a challenge to students comprehension in lectures.
The workshop will then move on to activities that will enable attendees to discuss and share practice and strategies that can help to support and check student comprehension.
Student and tutor data collected for the Fellowship will be introduced at intervals for consideration and to demonstrate the growing evidence base in the field.
The first 60 minutes of this session will be in a workshop format, followed by 30 minutes for discussion.
This event will be of interest to any colleagues who teach students whose first language is not English. It will also be of interest to colleagues more broadly who are interested in making their teaching practice more inclusive.
The sign up link is available on the LITE Events page.
