Whether you have already applied or plan to apply to one of the EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) offered by the University of Leeds, please attend our Virtual CDT Open Day.
Prospective students will have the opportunity to learn more about the CDT programmes with a Q&A section afterwards to get your questions answered.
About the CDTs
The CDTs bring together diverse areas of expertise in order to train researchers to address engineering and science related problems. They draw on world class and internationally recognised research from a range of disciplines, provide students with the knowledge and skills through which to address today’s global issues, and prepare them for future challenges.
The University of Leeds hosts the following CDT programmes and each of the CTDs has a number of fully-funded places available for September/October 2022 entry:
- EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Fluid Dynamics
- EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Molecules to Product
- UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Artificial Intelligence for Medical Diagnosis and Care
CDT students are funded for four years and work in a supportive, cohort environment, creating and developing relationships between teams in Universities and forging lasting links with industry.
A number of the CDTs at Leeds have a taught component to the programme which is designed to support a range of academic backgrounds in building a strong foundation in their field before choosing a PhD project.
Students’ PhD research is conducted with the support of outstanding supervisors from across the University, alongside the continuation of professional development activities. These include the opportunity to attend an industrial or academic placement; workshops; courses; seminars; career training, and much more.
Applications are open to both Home and International fee rated applicants, however the number of awards open for International applicants is limited by UKRI/EPSRC. Some additional places are also available for students who have their own funding. We welcome scholarship applications from all suitably-qualified candidates, but UK black and minority ethnic (BME) researchers are currently under-represented in our Postgraduate Research community, and we would therefore particularly encourage applications from UK BME candidates. All scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit.
