Record attendance for National Inclusion Week

More staff and students engaged with this year’s National Inclusion Week celebrations than ever before.

There were lots of events to choose from as we celebrated National Inclusion Week 2019

Running from 23-29 September, this was the third year running Leeds took part in the national initiative.

This year’s theme was ‘Everyday Inclusion – Celebrate and Inspire’, which is exactly what colleagues did!

Sabiha Patel, Head of Equality and Inclusion in the Equality Policy Unit (EPU), said: “It was great the University marked National Inclusion Week for the third time this year, and that this is now firmly embedded within our annual events calendar.

“The engagement from staff and students increased once again, and I am grateful to many colleagues for offering sessions highlighting our inclusivity efforts, and to everyone who attended and helped to make this important week a success.”

More than 200 staff and students booked on to a packed programme of free events coordinated by the EPU, from cultural workshops to climbing wall taster sessions, which highlighted the distinctively international and diverse community at Leeds.

Some even proved so popular, extra sessions had to be laid on.
