Following the hugely successful partnership with Great Food at Leeds (GFAL) – the University’s catering service – in the Laidlaw Library, the national chain will replace the Business School Café in the Maurice Keyworth Building and the Waterside Café on Level Six of the Roger Stevens Building.

Work to transform the cafés into one of the high street’s leading brands will start on Monday 9 December, with Waterside opening on Monday 13 January and the Business School outlet on Tuesday 28 January 2020.

A new Caffé Nero outlet will replace the Business School Café in the Maurice Keyworth Building. November 2019Work begins next month to create a new Caffé Nero outlet to replace the Business School Café in the Maurice Keyworth Building

Both cafés will need to close during this period, but GFAL will be providing a Tuk Tuk coffee cart in the Maurice Keyworth foyer, selling barista coffee, hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes. LOMA Express in the Charles Thackrah Building will also be open, providing a range of grab-and-go products, including specialist coffee by craft roasters Darkwoods. There’s also a small seating area in the foyer if you fancy staying a little longer.

For Waterside customers, the nearest alternative café is The Edit Room in the Edward Boyle Library, serving Darkwoods craft coffee, cold drinks, salads and sandwiches from local suppliers, with ample seating and long opening hours.

GFAL will be working with contractors to minimise any disruptions throughout the refurbishments.

Visit the GFAL website for further information about GFAL and the café offers on campus, or contact the team via email for more details about the Caffé Nero development.
