The funding available to you will depend on whether you are a UK/EU student or an international student.

UK/ EU students

Financial support may be available for UK/ EU students and there is no need to pay any money up front.

Student loans

All new UK/ EU undergraduate students are eligible to apply for a loan to cover the cost of tuition fees and support towards living expenses, what you are eligible to apply for varies depending on your personal circumstances and your home country.

The tuition fee loan is paid directly to the University and the living cost loan is paid to you in instalments. You only start to repay the loan when you have graduated and are earning over a certain amount a year (currently £25,716).

For UK students undertaking certain health and social care courses, NHS funding may be available. If you're coming to Leeds to study an intercalation degree you can find information on funding on our intercalation page

University scholarships and funding

You do not have to repay the support you get from us.

University Funding | Leeds Financial Support (LFS)

One in three of our students receive additional non repayable funding from us.

UK undergraduate students with a household income of no more than £36,000 a year (£42,875 if you are part-time or taking a foundation year) may be eligible to receive Leeds Financial Support. The amount you can receive depends on household income and is paid to you in instalments in addition to funding you may receive from the government.

Our generous funding package includes scholarships based on your personal circumstances, also known as means-tested scholarships. If your household income is less than £42,875 a year or you are from a disadvantaged background you may be able to apply for a scholarship which is typically £3,000 a year.

We also have scholarships that are awarded based on your academic achievement. These are available for high achieving students regardless of household income and background.

We also offer sports scholarships for elite athletes and an enterprise scholarship scheme.

Our Sanctuary Scholarships are also available to forced migrants to the UK.
