We offer pre-sessional courses to help you improve your English to the level needed to study an undergraduate, Masters or research degree. On our General English course, youll develop your day-to-day communication skills in English and learn more about British culture.
The University of Leeds has been teaching academic English to international students for almost 50 years. The Language Centre is part of the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies.
While you're studying with us, there are lots of opportunities to get involved with campus life and meet other students. Take part in sport and social activities, volunteering or careers events.
Language courses and workshops while you are here
As well as teaching pre-sessional English courses we also offer academic English courses and workshops while you are studying your degree here.
Teaching staff at the Language Centre work with other academic professionals from the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and across the higher education sector. They contribute to research into language teaching (scholarship), which then influences the way we teach our courses. This means the way we teach helps you get the most out of your language learning. Find out about some of the projects our teaching staff have been involved with in the centres academic journal, the Language Scholar.
The Language Centre has temporarily moved as part of a £5m refurbishment of our facilities. Our postal address is 15 Blenheim Terrace, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK, LS2 9JT. Find us on our campus map. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone us on +44 (0) 113 343 3251.
