Industrial Process Tomography

Industrial Process Tomography (IPT) is a non-destructive, non invasive imaging technique used in a variety of industrial applications for ‘seeing inside’ processes. Common motivations for utilising IPT include the fact that it plays an important role in continuous system measurement, allowing for the improved understanding and monitoring of industrial processes, providing a rapid and dynamic response which facilitates the real-time, on-line control of processes including fault detection and system malfunction. In addition, the characteristics of a process can be acquired and quantified, with ensuing data included in an overall process control strategy and finally, IPT provides a robust experimental means for the optimisation of process vessel design and operation through model development and validation.
