I come from China and it’s the first time I’ve studied abroad, so safety was very important to me when I was deciding where to live. I’d recommend University accommodation. My residence, St Mark’s, is close to campus so it’s easy to get home. It feels safe, with University security services on call 24 hours a day.
St Mark’s is a good place to live because you meet people from all over the world and living with other postgraduates means you can study and share ideas together.
My room is en suite, so I have my own bathroom, which is nice. I also have lots of storage space – important for an international student and someone who likes shopping!
Each flat has a shared kitchen with two areas, one for cooking and one for relaxing. So I can cook with my flatmates and have fun.
We have a common room and every month the Hall Executive team organises different events for residents. There was a fantastic event to celebrate Chinese New Year. We had traditional Chinese food, fish and chips and karaoke!
Staff here are super-kind too. On my first day here they met me at the residence and helped me up the stairs with my luggage. I felt welcomed right from the start!
