Norman Adams
It is sad to have to report the death, on 9 March 2005, of the distinguished artist, Norman Adams, RA, whose paintings include many highly regarded studies of the natural world, as well as a series of large-scale works on religious subjects. During the mid-1970s, Norman Adams, who for many years had a home in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, was a Visiting Tutor in the Department of Fine Art at Leeds; he later became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Newcastle (1981-86); Keeper, Royal Academy (1986-95); and Professor of Painting, Royal Academy Schools (1995-2000).
