Brian Thurlow

We are very sorry to let Members of the University know that Mr Brian Thurlow, Technical Officer (Mechanical) in Estate Services died on 4 May 2006, after a period of illness.

Following a long career in the construction industry, including spells abroad, Brian joined the Estates design team in April 2001. He quickly distinguished himself on a wide range of high-profile projects for the University, including most recently the Terahertz Laboratories, Nanolithography Suite and projects for the Leeds Dental Institute.

Brian was a well-liked colleague with a common-sense and thoughtful approach to his work. He had a wealth of knowledge and expertise to bring and gained the respect of fellow professionals and clients alike. He was a true gentleman, with a good sense of humour and will be sadly missed by those who worked with him.

He was also a keen motorcyclist for most of his life.

Having remarried last year, he is survived by his wife and grown-up family.
